Home: About The ProgramMessage From The President

         Welcome to the solar star foundation website! We thank you for visiting and joining us in our fight for a cleaner future. Starting out as a small club we have reached out to many more schools in hopes of promoting solar power. We are now proud to say that solar power is becoming more renown in schools across the country.

         Our environment is calling out for help. Many people choose to ignore the calls, but I hope through our efforts they will learn to listen. We all need to do our part to clean the Earth, a beautiful gift given to us. I am proud of what we as a community have accomplished so far and hope that we can continue down this path.

         Whether it is solar power or picking up a can you find on the ground, we should all do our part. Therefore I hope each and every one of you reading my message will continue to help this world. We at Solar Star Foundation hope to continue with our work to the point where more than 100 schools will have solar panels on their roof.

         If you are interested in helping or would like to make a contribution please contact us.

Home: About The ProgramAbout The Program

The Solar Star Foundation launched its Small-Scale Solar PV Program for K-12 Schools in 2010 to introduce the energy future to today's students. The program provides grants up to $1000 towards the cost of installing a new 1kW photovoltaic (PV) system to convert sunlight into electric power. Although small, each system will become part of the school's curriculum as well as generate free electricity. To enhance the educational value of the system, online monitoring to provide real-time data on the amount of electricity generated is included as part of the grant. Students see first-hand on a daily basis how sunlight is converted into electricity.

Program selection and eligibility criteria
    Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements including:
  • be a school or other educational organization such as a children's museum or nature center that provides
        continuous educational services to K-12 students;
  • have a suitable site for proper PV system installation and operation;
  • hold a "Solarbration" and make a commitment to teach about solar energy in the classroom beginning with
        the 2010-2011 school year;
  • commit to educate the community about the benefits of solar energy; and
  • agree to implement online monitoring of PV system performance via www.solarstarfoundation.org

How is the size of the grant determined?
Grants will cover 10% of the total system installation cost (equipment and labor) up to $1000.

When will grants be paid?
Each grant will be paid after the installation is completed and operational, and the work has been accepted by the grant recipient as satisfactory. Acceptance will be documented through submission of a brief final report on the project. The exact amount of the grant payment will be based on the actual cost of the system installed.

Home: About The ProgramThank You Letter

Hello everyone!

First of all, on behalf of Solar Star Foundation I just wanted to thank you all for coming to the auction and participating to help fund raise for Solar Star Foundation. We had a wonderful time and without you none of this would have happened, so thank you all very much.

Solar Star Foundation is organized and founded by kids, and as the name implies we are a group of people that cares for this earth. Everyday millions of fossil fuels are burned for the sake of lighting our houses alone. This in turn increases the amount of pollution in our air resulting in a domino effect of anguishes for not only us but more importantly our environment. However there is a solution and that solution is solar power. Our foundation puts forth the effort to try and not only promote solar power, but to also establish solar panels onto schools so that future generations can learn about what solar power is and how it can change this world.

Due to your support tonight we raised $2,845!!! With the money we raised we could help three schools to put solar panels on their roofs, so be proud that your money is going toward a brighter future for us.

Thank you to the wonderful donors who were generous enough to donate all the amazing items we saw: Daniel Li, Xiang Gao, Dong Li, Kan Li, Alpha Yang, Weidi Lu, and especially Helen Lee

Thank you to the spectacular bidders who's money will change this world: Li Shen, Feng Dong, Xiaobo Wang, Huifeng Chen, Bo He, Jesse Zhou, Peng Liu, Simon Xia, Li Shen, Ray Chen, E Cui, Nick Xu, Phil Lu, Gang Zhou, Huifeng Chen, Daniel Li, and LinyiFan!

Finally a huge thank to Wanxiang America Corp and Wanxiang Soccer Club for helping us organize. We couldn’t have done it without you!

I would also like to extend an invitation for all the kids who want to participate in Solar Star Foundation activities - together, and only together, can we make a difference in this world.

I hope you all had fun and enjoyed the evening as much as I did. Thank you all very much again for all the support!!
